We spent Christmas Eve with some friends from the branch. We enjoyed food, food, and more food. We ate pernil (roasted pork), tamales, moro de habicuelas negras con coco (black bean rice with coconut), and yuca with red onions. After dinner came the dancing. And some more dancing. And just a little bit more dancing. After the dancing . . . it was karaoke time.
We had fun singing Grease and other tunes. Tino was TOTALLY into it, but he wouldn't let me take any pictures. Mateo had fun too. At about 10 minutes to midnight, I took Mateo and Sarah home because they were starting to brawl. I didn't want them to have black eyes for the Christmas morning pictures from punching each other out. They were asleep before I even pulled out of our friends' driveway. Cristian and Tino stayed for more karaoke until slightly before 1:00 a.m. Then Cristian and I had a fabulous time getting everything ready (if you catch my drift) until 2:15 a.m. We were awakened at 8:15 a.m. when Tino, Mateo, and Sarah were sitting on our bed. Mateo said "Mami, hurry up because I want to go ride my bike. " The way our house is set up the kids' rooms are one one side of the house then the great room is in the middle and our bedroom is on the other side of the house. The kids' have to walk through the great room (where the Christmas tree, presents, etc. are) in order to get to our bedroom. So much for the Christmas morning surprise factor. It looks like the kids stopped off at the tree to survey their loot before coming into our room to wake us up. Big giant cheaters!

You should have heard the guilt trip I laid on my kids about not peeking (because Grandma had driven ALL the way up here so she could see the fun suprises on their faces and they better not ruin it!) Try it next year. You'll need a grandma.
How fun! You latin people do it right with the dancing, etc.
You are so Right about the Latins!! I am so jealous. I am so glad you had a great Christmas!! We miss you all.
Love the new looky look!
Are you telling me that no one videoed you doing the hallelujah chorus?!
While Jer and I were "getting everythign ready" until 1am, I internally swore to myself that I'll wrap more presensts beforehand. It is sooooo tiring on Christmas Eve!
