Day #2

http://library.thinkquest.org/5818/hurricanes.html

This will be our fifth hurricane season since moving to FL. I am COMPLETELY amazed by the whole thing. We had a couple weeks of absolutely beautiful weather. Not one cloud in the sky. Then all of a sudden the date changes and it's JUNE 1. The first day of Hurricane Season. We are now in the second day of hurricane season. Like clock work it has rained BOTH afternoons. Oh yeah, and can't forget the thunder and lightning. How does the weather know it needs to do that? Why didn't Mr. Rain or Mr. Thunderstorm visit us during the month of May? Or why don't they hold off until after June 11th?

Unfortunately, Sarah spent the better part of 2 hours on my lap yesterday with her head buried in my arms. Does this mean she doesn't do thunderstorms anymore? She kept running to me and saying "Mami, I cared, I cared. Hold me. " This is going to be a mighty long next six months if we don't nip this scared thing in the bud real quick. What are we going to do???????

I was just like her when I was little. Scared to death of thunderstorms. Now I LOVE them! Go figure. Good luck with that!

I say, move from Florida and come to San Diego. You only really have to worry about earth quakes!

What is so special about June 11?

And why do they have a wheelchair under the word verification area of your blog? I am surprised ADA doesn't take exception to that.

We spent an extra night in Florida right before hurricane Charlie. Flight delays.
Have her watch The Sound of Music...these are a few of my favorite things. It's worth a try.

Scary!!! Earthquakes don't scare me a bit but tornadoes would be another story.

Check out my blog and vote for my cute hubby!

I am a total stranger just blog hopping along when I read your problem. We live in Tampa, I have 4 kids and we have been here for 3 years...So I know the initial shock of the thunder and lightning. You know what we did? When a thunderstorm comes we turn off all the TV's or anything with noise, and all the lights in the house, then we have a little party...we wait for the light and thunder and then we start to dance and run around like crazy people. It is a little scary, at first, but we decided to make it into a little house party. THen we carefully listen for the next one, and the next one and dance away. At first the thunderstorms were always a big houseparty...now, we have a little party for like the first 2 or 3 thunders, then, they just move on to something else. My kids hardly even hear them anymore unless we are waiting to dance. My 3 year old daughter who was EXACTLY the same way as your daughter, rarely even moves when she hears it now. I hope this helps.. Good luck.
