Tino's Monthly Update

Well, I have been a complete Blog SLACKER since the holidays. I have decided I will write a little post about each child. That will give me plenty of blog material to cover at least the next week. Tino continues to eat, sleep, and breathe sports. And if he is not eating, sleeping, and breathing sports . . . he can be found on the internet checking out weather.com or something like that. The reason for the interest in the weather forecast is so he can predict whether or not he will be able to ride his bike to school. On Friday morning it was POURING rain. He had completed his regular morning routine AND had checked the weather. I had to run to the grocery store to pick up some snacks and lunch for Mateo, Sarah, Cristian and I. I got home at 7:55 a.m. Tino had DISAPPEARED. I guess he is smart enough to know that since it was pouring rain I was not going to let him ride his bike to school. He must have also put two and two together that I was running late and didn't have time to go track him down and make sure that he had returned home with his bike. So he rode his bike to school. In the rain. And he was sopping wet. And if he catches pneumonia or some other funky illness he will have to take care of himself. Because he knows what my rules are about riding bikes in the rain. AND HE DISOBEYED. (Which seriourly is O.K. because Tino is the "Perfect Child" . . . if I were to have one. Which I don't. Because parents don't have perfect children right? Parents don't have favorites either for that matter. Or do they???) Some of the highlights of Tino's month have been:

  • Getting straight A's on his report card.
  • Participating in Sports and Fitness night at the school.
  • Baseball season is BACK. He is on the Atlanta Braves for a change.
  • Tino put his handyman skills to use at Home Depot the first Saturday of the month. He made a football stool.
  • He continues to be a VERY good big brother.
  • We also had a serious mother-son chat about expressing emotions. I told Tino it was o.k. for him to say "I love you" to his brother, sister, mom, dad, etc. I also told him it was o.k. for him to give a little kiss on the cheek or even a hug to above-mentioned family members. The conversation was truly meaningful and touched the innermost depths of his soul. The end result of the conversation: "O.K. mom. Well, uh, can I go to bed now?"
I Love You Tino Bambino!
