Selective mute-ism ?!?

O.K. so first of all, I don't know how to spell that word . . . but I'm starting to wonder if Sarah just chooses not to speak. These are some of the things I have caught her saying the last couple days, when of course she doesn't know that I am within earshot.

"I not a baby, Teo!"

"Esto es mio "piggy". (This is my piggy . . . referring to her favorite stuffed animal).

"I o.k. Don't worry."

"I go to the parque. And the Wheeeeeee. And ride the bike. " (Sarah went to the park. She went down the slide. She rode her bike.)

O.K. Heather Danielson Mrs. Special Education Extraordinaire . . . what's up with inserting "and the" whenever she is explaining what she did? Also, what's up with using sound effects instead of labeling the object?

I'll continue to spy on her and write down the other things I catch her saying.

I would say the and the thing is the 2 languages she's working with. Not to worry she will grow out of it. And I would say she is most likely not a selective mute but just non-compliant. Like her mama?
